Cecile AndrewsCecile Andrews, a partner to Simple Living America, is the author of The Circle of Simplicity: Return to the Good Life (1997, HarperCollins) and Slow is Beautiful: New Visions of Community, Leisure, and Joie de Vivre (2006, New Society Publishers). She is a contributor to Take Back Your Time, John de Graaf editor (2003, Berrett-Koehler Publishers) and Simpler Living, Compassionate Life, Michael Schut, editor (1999, The Morehouse Group).

A former community college administrator, Cecile now works in community education and is an adjunct faculty member at Seattle University.

Cecile is a founder of the Phinney EcoVillage, which is building sustainability and community in her North Seattle neighborhood and helping people live “simpler, slower, and smaller.” She is on the board of Take Back Your Time, powered on the web by The Simple Living Network, as well as on the board of the Simple Living with Wanda Urbanska national public television series.

She has been a visiting scholar at Stanford University where she received her doctorate in education.

Her work has been featured in the PBS primetime special Escape from Affluenza and the TBS program Consumed with Consumption (featuring Cecile, Ed Begley Jr., Phyllis Diller and Jane Fonda), CBS News Eye on America, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, Esquire, and various PBS and NPR programs.

Cecile lives in Seattle, Washington with her husband, Seattle Times writer Paul Andrews.
