SOPA Blackout 2012
SOPA blackout 2012. Do you know about SOPA blackout? Today many websites are protesting SOPA with an internet blackout. Instead of remaining silent, I thought I’d post a link to the petition Google has set up to send to congress. I don’t normally pick sides on this site, but hopefully together by spreading the word we can all at least become educated about what signing the two bills into law would mean to our freedoms on the internet. Here are links to the Protect IP Act (PIPA) and the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA). Much of the conversation is happening on Twitter because so many other sites have gone dark, including reddit, Boing Boing, Wired, WordPress, and Mozilla Firefox, among others. While Twitter supports the protest against SOPA, the social media site said the idea of going dark for a day was “foolish.” We need to say stop sopa.
